How to Find Private Photobucket Albums

Previously, we showed you how to view photos in private Photobucket accounts and gave you a list of the most popular image filenames to use with NavNet.

Here now is a nice little custom list of subfolders to increase your chances of stumbling on a payload of private pics. Simply paste these in the little "subdirectories" box located in the lower right-hand portion of your NavNet window.

For more on where to get NavNet and how to use it, click here.

Enlarge Facebook Private Profile Pictures

There's an easy way to enlarge Facebook profile pictures that usually only appear as thumbnails in search results. You don't need to be friends with the person whose profile pic you want to see in larger format.

Just follow these simple instructions:

Note: This only works with Firefox, so get yourself a copy of that browser here.

How to enlarge private profile pictures
  1. Click here to install Greasemonkey (It's free).

Greasemonkey is a small Firefox addon that lets you customize the way pages appear in Firefox. It also happens to be very useful in accessing private images, profiles and much more on social networks such as Facebook.

  2. Once installed, you'll see a little monkey icon on the lower right portion of the Firefox status bar. Roll over the little icon and make sure it says "enabled". If you don't see the icon, simply close and restart Firefox. If you see the icon but it says "Greasemonkey is disabled", simply double click on the little monkey to enable it.

  3. Install a nifty little script developped by Mattias Blom by clicking here. It'll show you the larger size profile pictures whenever you hover over the thumbnails that Facebook usually displays in search results. That's it!
Note: I suggest restarting Firefox after steps 2 (installing Greasemonkey) and 3 (installing the script).

Don't forget to bookmark this page for easy access to the rest of the instructions before restarting Firefox.

View Private Photobucket Photos

Looking to download pictures from a private Photobucket account? Follow these simple instructions:

  1. Download the Navnet program by clicking here (it's free!)
  2. Install Navnet
  3. Open Navnet and go to the "Fusker Generator" tab
  4. In "Target directory" type in either the photocuket account url, the album url or the username of the profile from which you're trying to download photos
  5. Click the "Start" button
  6. Navnet will search the album or account for a list of the most common photo formats (Picture103.jpg, DSC00100.jpg, CIMG_0009.jpg, … et) and display the images it finds.
  7. You can specify which photo formats you want Navnet to search for. For example, if you know that the account contains an image called DSC001.jpg and you want Navnet to automatically search for images ranging from DSC001.jpg to DSC999.jpg, simply type in DSC###.jpg in the "File Format" box. If you're not sure which image formats the album you're looking to crack contains, simply go with the default list provided by Navnet.
If you're looking for additional information on how to do this, this video should help:

Saving Private Flickr Photos - Spaceball.gif

If you've ever visited Flickr.com, you've probably noticed that the website may sometimes block you from downloading certain photos that users have set as private.

Right clicking to start the download will only get you a weird image file called spaceball.gif which, obviously isn't the file that you were looking for.

HOW TO GET AROUND IT:

Using Firefox

  1. Right click anywhere on the page where you image is located and select "View Page Info"
  2. Click on the "Media" tab
  3. Scroll through the various files, clicking on each one to open a preview in your window.
  4. Once you land on the picture you were looking for, simply click the "Save As" button and voila!
Using Other Browsers

  1. Right click on the page and select "View Source"
  2. Hit Control + F on your keyboard and type in "farm"
  3. Cycle through the results (it should be the third result) until you end up on a URL starting with farm1.static, like the following "http://farm1.static.flickr.com/36/87446951_d438474121.jpg"
  4. Copy that URL into a browser window and the picture should come up and be available for easy downloading
